Rather than trying to schedule telephone interviews (with the attendant problems of poor sound quality and phone costs) we have switched
over to grab based interviews. A grab is a small chunk or segment of speech that answers a question in a concise way. On this page you will
find a list of questions, what you do is pre-record your answers to these questions as speech on a CD-R, then post the completed audio CD
to our interviews address. Each answer should be a separate grab or file.

With each interview CD you should also send a print-out of this page (as the questions change from time to time and we need to know which
version of the questions you were answering when you made the recording). As long as you have answered the questions in the same order
they are displayed here, there is no need to include a cue-sheet for the CD. When we receive your CD we prepare an interview editing in our
local announcers voice asking the same questions that appear on this page. Our library is also very large so please include the full name of
your CD(s) and a rough description of the cover art.

TIPS
* It is a good idea to get your manager or someone else to help you prepare this CD, if they read out the questions for you then please leave
a small gap before you answer so we have room to edit in our own local announcer's voice and remove their's.
* It is always wise to discuss or think about these questions before you answer them. If you write your answers down try not to just read them
out or they will sound very contrived.
* You can record an interview at any time and send it along. We can not always guarantee that we will play it within a fixed time frame, only
that it will ultimately go to air providing it meets our requirements. You can record as many interviews as you like per year and send them along,
although we may limit broadcast to one appearance on-air per year depending upon how many we receive.
* This is not a tax form so try not to give one word answers. You need to get in a good mood or have a few drinks (not too many!) and be as
talkative as possible. We may have to edit your responses slightly anyway (although never to change your original meaning) so its helpful to over
compensate.

THE Don't's LIST!
Do not swear, make political statements, discuss religion, or discuss topics which may overtly offend the average person. Stick to music and
your career/band. We are fairly broad minded here, but the PD's who air our shows are generally not, so keep this in mind when your recording.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

[Version 1.6 09/09/2009]

1. How are you today? (used to make interview sound live!)

2. Lets start by introducing yourself/ Yourselves

3. So how's things with the Band? (I know corny question!)

4. So your from [your city], what's the local independent music scene like there?

5. Are there many good venues to play at? name some you've played at etc.

6. And what would you say was your most favourite gig to date? Tell us a bit about it.

7. And you've just released a new CD?

8. What's your favourite track off the new CD?

9. What's this track about, what are the motivations behind it?

10. If there was one word to sum up this song it would be?

11. Pick at least two other tracks and answer questions 9 & 10 for those again! You can do every track on the CD if your very keen.

12. What are the differences of the new CD from your previous releases?

13. So where can we buy your music online?

14. Do you have a band web site?

15. Finally a standard question..what was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you while on stage, performing etc.
We all have these horror stories...a stage collapsed on one of my bands once...just try and not enlarge the story TOO much!

16. Any special message or hello for our listeners or other musicians (this question is fairly open..just try not to thank absolutely..
everybody!).

17. Thanks its been nice talking to you, say goodbye..not just the word "goodbye" be imaginative!

18. Now Record an introduction for each song you have discussed during the interview, e.g. Hi this is Joe Blow and this is my song....

19. If there are any questions we haven't asked which you are dying to answer please do so, just make sure you include a cue-sheet
with the questions so we know what they were. Be aware that we may or may not use these additional question-answers at our sole
discretion.

WHILE YOUR AT IT...

You might also like to record a few liners along the lines of:-

G'day this is [name ] and your listening to the best in [insert genre here]
G'day this is [name ] and this is my new song [song name]

and include them at the end of the CD-R. You can record as many as you like but each liner should be no longer than about 20-30 sec.
As our programs are on-air in numerous international markets, the liners must be neutral: no politics, swearing, or religion.

If you have reached this page through a search engine and you are not a regular contributor to ILR's programs, please also make sure that
you include a CD of your bands music with the interview as we can only play interviews for artists we are featuring on our programs.
