When you start Robot the On Air screen is always opened first. Once you have setup the various library and format screens, the on air screen is the normal screen with which you will be interacting. You would leave this screen open in the studio so that you can follow the automations progress or work with it.
The professional full screen layout is designed to provide ease of use for even the novice presenter.
The on Air screen is divided into approximately two sections:
The Quick Cart system and the Automation Playback. You can only use one at a time, eg. Automation or the live quick cart system - when either is playing it locks the other out.
The Quick Cart system lets you schedule a specific list of audio items and have them play back at the click of the play button (much in the same manner as traditional studio cart machines). Quick cart could be used to playback ID's and adverts for presenters during live shows using external equipment (e.g. CD decks and a panel). In this way you also do not need duplicate copies of the stations audio files on another computer. You can also prepare a chain of ID's adverts and songs in case you need to leave the studio for half an hour or so.
The Automation Playback runs Robot's automation engine, scheduling and playing audio files for you. You can also work with the automation during play back if you have inserted LIVE talk breaks into the format.
