SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
You can send promo material and info at anytime, please do not send us MP3's as our server automatically deletes them. To be suitable for airplay we need music on CD in audio format (that is playable in a CD player). We accept music in most formats all year round. As we program almost entirely independent music there are always openings for new content every week. Please include your email address so that we can confirm delivery and airplay.

WHAT HAPPENS THEN?

The post to Australia can be slow sometimes. Once we actually receive your CD release it goes in the IN box in the office, where it CAN sit for up to 60 days depending upon when we last did our music review (it may for example only sit there for 1 day if it reaches us on the day before the review). Each review is an enormous process so its not something we do every week and its done on demand which means there is not a set schedule. We listen to everything that has come in, decide what we want to use, then add those tracks to our playlists rotation. All of the playlist tracks are added to our webcast rotation, tracks are rotated through our syndicated broadcast programs each week giving each artist an equal share of exposure. This service is completely free.

We reserve a small number of spots for guarenteed play with a guarenteed 7 day addition time but this requires payment on a per song basis. The rotation level is identical to the free service; you do however get to choose which song(s) we rotate for you and get them on the air right on the release date. Also as you are helping pay for the airplay that everyone else is sharing we extend the life of your song(s) in our playlists with the lowest possible deletion priority. Guarenteed spots also have an equal chance in the ILR charts as the free spots. This is one way larger labels can help fund the airplay for indies: we look upon it as an advertising service even though it is not presented as such on air. If you are interested in Guarenteed plays please Click Here .

To repeat: the above is completely optional
IT COSTS YOU NOTHING TO SEND US MATERIAL FOR AIRPLAY
if you are happy to use the free service which just takes slightly longer.

EMAIL DO's AND DONT's
Or "Ways to ensure a happy music director!"

Our mail server automatically deletes certain messages:-

  • Yahoo greetings, online cards etc - Naturally you are only trying to add a personal touch but once we wade through the advertising and cut and paste from the web to reply it takes an unfeasible amount of time to answer. One or two is not a problem but before we blocked them we were getting 20 or 30 a day.
  • MP3's - MP3 audio is no use to us it is not of a sufficient quality for broadcast. Too many people were just sending MP3's and not following them up with audio on CD in the post, so it is pointless for us to review a song which we may never use. By the time we download songs and listen to them this works out approximately 4 times as long as it takes to listen to a CD in the CD player. We receive around 300 - 400 new releases a week so the whole job would take a lot longer if we did it all from MP3's.

There are also certain types of emails that drive us crazy!:-

  • Are you playing our song - We get hundreds of these a week. We automatically add your email address to our playlists system which will announce via email the new songs we have added to our playlists. We play songs in rotation from a master playlist. If you are in the playlist you will get a spin(s) sometime within the 60 day cycle. If you don't receive the emails you can check on the webpage under musicians & Labels - playlists.
  • Press Releases to the wrong email - We read all of the press releases and info that comes in..when it comes to musicnews@isonliveradio.com. Press Releases sent to info@ are simply deleted, we no longer forward them over, it has become an enormous task.
  • Whats your Address, where do I send my CD? - Its above! We keep our contact details on these web pages up to date.
  • How ya goin lets have a chat - Please understand that whilst we try hard to keep the personal touch, this is often hard working with hundreds of thousands of labels and musicians worldwide, corresponding with listeners and running the business side of things. We appreciate your only being friendly and pushing your music is the game..but we can not engage in prolonged personal correspondance with anyone, there simply is not time and its not really fair to the other contributors. That doesn't mean you need to be unfriendly either..its just our "chat" time is rather limited!
