Audio Reel Digitizing
The Transfer, Recovery and Re-Mastering of studio reel to reel tapes to CD

A lot of Radio stations have archives of 1/4 inch tape material that is now inaccessible to them because on-air studios have become digital. Whilst not all stations have disposed of their reel to reel units, the budget for properly maintaining those units (discarded to cupboards and store rooms) is very rarely greater than zero!

We offer professional transfer onto CDR, giving you complete control over the process. You have a range of included options in regard to re-mastering to restore broadcast quality.

Our services are play back time based, which means you are only paying for the actual running time, there are no extra CD mastering charges.

Available Transfers

Studio recorded 1/4" reels

3 3/4 ips  to stereo CD
7 1/2 ips to stereo  CD
                                          15 ips to mono   CD

Maximum individual reel size 7"

Domestically recorded 1/4 " reels

Most domestic reel to reel units use a different head layout to record the audio signal. When played back on professional equipment the tracks become jumbled. Under some circumstances we can produce a mono (or single track) re-recording of domestic reel tape from the speeds above.

Maximum individual reel size 7"

We also offer transfer from some Cart formats.

We also offer cassette transfer using playback on a transistorized studio tape deck unit  (can offer much warmer transfers compared to modern IC based units).
